Maati Baani, the Mumbai-based folk-fusion duo of vocalist Nirali Kartik and composer-producer Kartik Shah, have spent over a decade taking Indian folk music beyond its traditional boundaries. Travelling deep into rural India, they discover and collaborate with folk musicians, capturing rare traditions, instruments, and dialects at their source. Their music brings these roots together with classical vocals, funk, blues, and global sounds, with collaborations spanning 200+ musicians across 30 countries. Through projects like The Music Yantra, Maati Baani have created a global musical dialogue while giving traditional artists a wider platform.
