"Sajid Maklai heads Artist and Repertoire at Universal Music India’s premier label “VYRL Originals. His passion for music has led him to work with one of the leading music labels in the world. He has been in the music business for the past 16 years and has been working with independent artist & Non-Film Music since 2003. He started off his career with HOM records as an A&R junior for 6 years.
In his career he has worked with many new and established artists who are currently well known in the music industry. Sajid has worked with some of the finest and extremely talented artist such as Rahat Fateh Ali Khan, Adnan Sami, Rishi Rich, Armaan Malik, Lisa Mishra, Akull, Sukriti Kakar & Prakriti Kakar, Arjun Kanungo, Vishal Mishra,Stebin Ben, Payal Dev,Mohit Chauhan, Jasmine Sandlas, Sonu Nigam, Kanika Kapoor, Juggy D, Dr. Zeus, Ankur Tewari, RDB, Jal The Band too name a few.
His expertise has also taken him across the globe where he has worked on collaborations with international and domestic artists such as Enrique Iglesias & Mustafa Zahid/Dj Aks, Lost Stories & Poets of the Fall, Alesso & Kanika Kapoor, Enrique Iglesias & Salim/Suleiman to name a few.
At UMI he looks at Artist Development, Scouting Talent, Liaison between Artist & record label, Licensing, Domestic & International collaborations and everything 360 related to Artist and content creation which requires him to understand the current trends in music and create trending content for new releases."
